Likes and Dislikes

We all have our likes and dislikes. We feel it is natural to have preferences. But how does this attitude of likes and dislikes affect us internally?

Dislikes will give rise to negative thinking, it will not allow us to accept things readily but will encourage us to constantly question things.

If we maintain an attitude that whatever crosses our path has within it some benefit for me, then this will help soften the extremes within my internal reaction to things. It will also open the door to learning and accepting the intricacies of life.

Like medicine, what I like may not always be good for me and that which I don’t like may in fact be what I need at that time. If I live only on likes I will get ill. If I don’t also accept dislikes, I will never get better.

It is fine to have preferences but it is equally necessary to be able to discern and to learn not to reject that which I don’t like.

See the benefit. Like the dislikes.

Om Shanti
