Imprisoned by Ego

imprisoned_ego

For so long now the soul has been imprisoned within the personality of ego.

Do I recognise that personality?

It is that personality that stands up and defends me even when I am wrong. It is there to always make me look good in front of others – it will never let the side down!
When mistakes are noticed, it will make excuses for me and make sure there is someone else to blame. It makes sure I win even at the cost of so many others losing.

Do I recognise this so-called faithful friend within? Could I ever have considered that ego has imprisoned me and made me its slave?

This is the time to recognise how false the personality that ego promotes is, how far from the real me within.

If I am ever to reach my truth and thus my inner peace, I need to be able to let go of all that is false. I need to be able to let go of the support I take from ego and stand up and face myself, who I am, as I am.

Do I have the courage to let go of the support of Ego?

Guilty!

guiltyWe often see or hear things that colour our vision of and beliefs about people.

Even if we are unaware of the circumstances, instead of seeing them as ‘innocent until proven guilty’ we automatically feel they must be guilty because our thoughts, feelings, word and actions are influenced by a belief already imprinted in our subconscious. So the way we see, hear or think about someone is coloured by that impression.

Whether they are guilty or not will make no real difference to me as a person. However this habit of holding on to negative impressions about people makes us the ones who support and empower those negative traits within our own personality. If I dislike someone then I am the one that experiences the negative feelings of ‘dislike’ within myself. We become the ones that experience the negative emotions and feelings that they generate.

So who is ‘guilty’ and who is paying the price?

The Devil’s Workshop

devil_workshop

‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’

I have heard this saying many times and yet how often am I aware of what is going on in my mind?

Actions are the result of the thoughts. If the mind remains occupied in positive and constructive thoughts, then I will certainly experience that in terms of positivity in my attitude, feeling, words and actions.

It needs constant attention and control of the mind to ensure that I don’t let the devil in. When there is nothing specific to think about, or I become lazy about cultivating good thoughts, then, like an unattended garden, the mind will become full of weeds. These weeds, over time, will outgrow any flowers that may wish to grow and the beauty and joy of the garden will be lost.

I must remain occupied checking the thoughts being created in the mind as these are the seeds that will result in the fruit of my experiences in life tomorrow.

Check, am I consciously planting healthy and positive seeds in my mind or am I allowing the devil to plant his seeds.

Silent Space

silentspace

When I sit in silence, away from the pulls of the physical world, I become silent deep within. The senses go beyond the attraction of seeing something, being somewhere or doing something.

In this silent and very real and honest space, in the depths of soul consciousness, it is here that realisations surface and the keys of transformation take shape.

If I don’t make time to visit this space then I will be completely oblivious to its existence. I will continue to live in the physical illusion of what is called the world and the ways of the world.

It is not necessary to experience this silent space, but to do so is to free the self from all that binds and controls me. It exposes me to a state of total liberation.

The silent space returns me to my natural state of being.
