Inner Conflict

warrior

Conflict is part and parcel of everyday life in the form of situations and people.

Physical, gross forms of conflict can be seen and identified quite easily. But the truth is that all external conflict, no matter how big or small, is a reflection of an inner battle that is taking place within. The seed of all conflict lies within the self.

Inner conflict is subtle and thus not so easy to identify and even more difficult to resolve.

Conflict happens within the self, in an incognito way. It may be due to unfulfilled desires or ‘comfort zones’ that are being threatened. This creates an unsettled feeling of being challenged and will then lead to external reactions – conflict with people and situations.

When faced with an external conflict, check and see if there is an inner struggle that first needs to be resolved. Get to the root of your discomfort.

The Power of Attraction

Power_of_attraction

When we are happy, content and in a good space within ourselves, we are able to deal with challenges more easily. The moment we lose that balance the underlying feeling of contentment also disappears and we begin to feel threatened by the challenges that come.

In this state of being we subtly look for something to compensate for the loss in contentment, and we become attracted to ‘easy’ forms of comfort. We are drawn into taking support of negativity in the form of anger, falsehood, excuses, blame etc.
It no longer is a case of what is right and wrong. There is just a subtle but powerful need to be back in our comfort zone again and so we ‘fight’ for that.

Taking support of negativity in this way reinforces it in our lives and in our character. We then become trapped and dependent on negativity as a ‘quick fix’.

We may realise that this behaviour is not the solution and that it will only resolve the issue temporarily, but like a drug, we become attracted and even dependent on it..

Take care not to be attracted and trapped by negative behaviour habits.

Good Intentions

good_intentions

Everything begins with good intentions – what we say, what we do etc.

The thinking that follows is a by-product of intention. However my thoughts are also coloured by my past experiences and future desires and so the thinking, and thus the intention, becomes influenced.

‘If my intention is for them to be happy then why are my thoughts, feelings and actions not demonstrating that when they decide to go against what I would like them to do?’

It takes great humility to step back and to see what is happening, and then to allow myself the time and space to reconnect with the roots of my intention. The moment I do that I will free myself of the burden of fulfilling the intention.

Sustaining a connection with ourselves is what is required for us to remain true and pure in our feelings and intentions.

Defects

Defects

It bothers us when people behave ‘badly’. Their negative behaviour takes up valuable space in our mind and disturbs the heart. It is amazing how something that belongs to someone else affects us so much. It is their negative quality, their weakness and yet it disturbs us.

When we are not internally full, when we ourselves lack happiness, peace and love, then our attention is diverted to search outside and see the faults and weaknesses of others. We even associate their behaviour with the reason for our pain, stress and unhappiness. This then becomes the foundation of misunderstanding in our relationships.

If I can focus internally on sustaining my own inner feelings, then the defects of others will not be visible to me, they will not disturb me.

Try it and see.

Internal Peace

internal_peace

To find eternal, internal peace is the ultimate need of us all.
We may not be actively looking for it but it is our desire to reach that place of comfort and completeness – the experience of peace.

Even though we want it, most of us don’t see it is a tangible or well-defined goal for ourselves. Maybe the reason for that is that we don’t know how it can ever happen, or how we can achieve it.

In a world that is fast and ever changing, a world in which there is fear and insecurity, how is it possible to find peace?

The solution is simple – so simple that most of us fail to see it even though it is standing in front of us.

The key that will open the door to the possibility of attaining peace within the self is the choices we make. When we choose to stop all negativity in our thoughts and feelings, our words and vision, that will be the moment of change.

Make a choice for Peace – stop negativity.
