Who’s at Fault?

Blame

Someone did something wrong – it happens – but what follows is much more important than the mistake itself.

The immediate reaction internally, to arising feelings, is that we experience continuous waves of thoughts about that situation.
We replay the scene again and again in our minds and confirm it to be their fault. Or we try and justify it with reason and excuses. We may even become critical and start to blame.

We think and over think about the mistake and in doing so we allow it to grow in our mind until it becomes a big thing.

If we continue to focus on what is wrong then how will it ever finish or improve?

A negative can never be transformed by adding more negativity, just like adding more darkness to an already dark room will keep it dark. Light is needed to transform or finish the darkness.

Getting stuck in a situation will not allow us to see the solution. It will also not allow us to learn and grow from the experience.

Stop and let go of blame and justification – concentrate on the solution.

Embrace Change

change

When things around us remain the same then we adapt to them and become comfortable in that physical or even mental and emotional space. We begin to feel ‘safe’ and ‘secure’ in that which we know. Why disrupt the status quo?

However life is a journey and we are in fact moving all the time. Even on a physical level, the cells in our bodies are regenerating themselves constantly. Change is a fact of life.

When we try and resist change then it becomes a challenge and thus the enemy. If we understand change and try and embrace it then we will realise that change is actually beneficial. Change enables us to increase our potential, allowing us to learn and grow. It brings newness and allows transformation to take place.

Stand up and embrace change don’t resist it.

Forgive and Forget

past

Often when we are hurt by people, especially those close to us, it becomes very difficult to forgive, move on and re-nurture trust.

With everything we do, say or even think, we are laying the building blocks for the future. When a hurtful scene occurs and we hold onto that scene and the pain – when we don’t forgive – then that becomes the foundation for our future too.

It is as if we reap a harvest that is diseased and keep the seeds to plant out again. Planting seeds that are infected will only result in another infected harvest.

Something painful that happened in the past exists in the past. If we decide to keep it safe and cultivate it again and again in the future then it will stay with us. In fact it will multiply, grow and influence other areas of our lives too. It is not about the person or situation that hurt me in the past but it is about the future I want for myself.

What is required is the courage to let go, to forgive and forget. We need to burn those infected seeds and have the courage to start again with fresh, healthy seeds.

Do I have the courage to forgive and forget?

The Prison of my Personality

personality

Personality is the mask that I wear, the character I profess to be. Someone who is admired in society for fame, fortune, cleverness or even an entertaining nature.

The personality is so strong that it continues to express itself in return for ‘respect’, popularity and even love.

Do I sometimes feel like a prisoner of my own personality? It is my personality yet it is not me!

When I take off my mask, who am I then? Am I still not a person that society will like and accept? The mask of personality will strongly disagree and in this way it holds onto the power and keeps me imprisoned.

I need courage to step out from behind that mask. It may not be easy but I will free myself from a self-imposed prison sentence that I do not deserve. And what is more, in doing so I will reclaim my self respect and honour of just being me.

It’s time to be free.
