Step into Freedom

2015-04-20_0804

Do you ever feel like you want to be free. Free from the baggage of the past and the uncertainty and expectations of the future?

Freedom holds within it an experience of lightness, being carefree and happy.
If this is truly what we want then what is it that binds us so tightly to all that we ‘by definition’ don’t want?

Somewhere, somehow there is a sense of ‘need’. We need these things, we need those people , we need to do certain things and know other things. We place this very heavy chain of ‘need’ around our necks. Needs based on perception and speculation and not based on any proof or guarantee.

Even though the soul will yearn to be free, once trapped in the chain of needs it is very difficult to see beyond that.
We have to step back and see things in a detached and objective way in order to see the reality.

Take a step of courage and let go of one ‘need’ that is tieing you down. Let go and experience a step into freedom.

Why am I talking?

gossip

We often hear the phrase ‘Its good to talk’. And of course speech is a very powerful tool, allowing us to express our attitudes and true feelings.

However, as someone recently pointed out – whenever we speak, there is always a reason behind it. We may not be aware of it but definitely there is some intent and the quality of intent will vary from time to time. We may find that sometimes on a surface level the intent maybe loving and full of respect and it genuinely feels really good. But dive deeper under the surface and perhaps we may discover some deep personal desires of wants and needs that are governing the intent behind our talking …talking to take control, get regard, respect, be acknowledged, gain acceptance, be included, undermine others to feel more powerful…….

Its good to talk, but let me be honest and check my intent behind it. Let me make this a natural practice because surely as we learn to develop purity in our intent, the power behind our words will have a powerful positive impact – both on me and others!

The Spiritual Wave

home

Our atmosphere is full of invisible waves of energy. We may be aware of the natural forms of energy like light and sound. There are also energy waves emitted from technology – computers, mobiles, microwave etc. And then of course the energy waves we generate with our thoughts and feelings.

If we move through the highways and byways of these waves we will find more subtle spiritual waves of energy that take us beyond the physical world and into a world of pure, powerful spiritual energy. An energy that is empowering, fulfilling and satisfying.

Once we are aware of this energy force, it takes only a second to take the journey and connect with it. The challenge is to navigate the mind through an atmosphere that is congested with other miscellaneous energy waves, align with the spiritual wave and stabilise long enough to absorb that energy. With regular practice there is no doubt this can be achieved.

Let me start my practice now.

I invite my mind to take a journey. Like a loving child, it quietens down – eager to start the journey. With concentrated focus, I visualise my destination….a world of pure energy. My mind cooperates and I move away from all distractions and congestion of the physical atmosphere, and I slowly move into the spiritual realm of pure spiritual energy. I find myself surfing on spiritual waves, absorbing that energy. This is the spiritual realm, my spiritual home, nirvana.

My Still Point

fear_thoughts

Let me take the opportunity, right now, to connect with my still point.

Sitting quietly I allow the body to become quiet.

Turning my attention inwards I become the detached observer of my thoughts. As thoughts arise I watch them and see that the majority of my thoughts, if not all of them, are of the past or the future. When my mind strays towards the past or the future, when I move away from this moment now, I lose connection with my still point.

Let me consciously become present in the now with my thoughts and feelings. Let me focus on the silence that this moment holds – let me allow myself to experience that still point where I am beyond all thoughts.

To be in the still point means to experience the true self without the costumes and masks of roles and responsibilities. Within the still point is the awareness of truth and as a result the experience of total freedom – liberation.

How often does the mind allow me to be in this still point? Let me give myself permission to become still – it is my mind after all.

The Control Factor

depth_within

Situations happen – they are a part and parcel of life and with them come stress, pain, tension and worry. However these are not a part and parcel of life – they are actually a choice we make.

Situations, people, nature, circumstances etc.. are beyond our control – they have their own momentum and path. When we are not willing to let go of that which we cannot control then we choose to move into a space of stress, worry and tension.

Acceptance and the willingness to let go and move on allows us to protect ourselves from these negative by-products of wanting to control.

Letting go of control is not just a physical thing – it is about mentally and emotionally letting go of the need to control a situation.

In the face of challenges, If we are able to stop and step into our inner space and see another perspective then it will allow us to free ourselves and move on. The longer we hold onto something, in the hope to control or change the outcome, the harder it will be to let go because the deeper will be the mental and emotional bonds to it.

When we realise the futility of control we will be able to turn to ourselves and instigate a more positive change from within.
