My Original Self

sanskars

When thoughts are expressed they lead to words and action. This expression of thoughts creates an experience for the self and leaves a memory of that experience within the subconscious.

When I repeat the same words and actions again and again, they become a habit. And when habits are repeated, over time, they become my personality – it reflects the way I am.

This personality I am now, has been created, over time, through expression and experience. Layers of experiences have superseded each other with dominating personality traits overpowering more subtle and gentle ones.

I take a deep breath and reflect on this ‘created’ personality of mine and the thought arises from deep within the soul – what was my original personality? Will I ever return to that original pure personality that I was?

And my conscience responds in a whisper – this is the destiny of the soul.

Express to Experience

trikaldarshi

There is an universal spiritual law that says – what I Express, I will Experience.

Like a boomerang, whatever I emit into the universe will come back to me. The time it takes to return is uncertain and variable but every thought, word and action will come back to me as a ‘gift’ from the past.

At every moment I have a choice of what and how I express. Then what comes back to me in the form of experience, I have no control over.
Understanding this and deeply accepting it will allow my subconscious mind to imbibe it. Unless I have imbibed it into by ‘belief system’, my present behaviour pattern will not change.

The situations and people that come to me in life are the ‘gifts’ from the past. Let me choose to respond to them wisely so that the ‘gifts’ I receive tomorrow create the experiences I wish to have.

Within Silence

Spiritual_Pilgrimage

Silence is understood by many as a state in which there is an absence of any physical sound. From a spiritual perspective there is far more to it than that.

If I can stop for a few moments and become quiet – dis-engage from my physically senses and move away from the need to think or feel, I will find myself moving towards stillness. There is a natural detachment from all that is around me, the people, the things and the stories.

Although in this stillness it would seem that we are not ‘doing anything’, the wonder is that this stillness leads us into silence – which attracts the soul like a magnet. Silence is the doorway through which the soul experience many deep, rich and timeless experiences.

In silence I begin to experience the connection of the self, myself, with eternity and ultimately my connection with the Supreme.

Oh the wonder of silence!

Am I Peaceful?

2015-04-20_1250To be peaceful I need to recognize that I will not experience the absolute state of peace through places, situations or even feelings. Peace is a state of being.

The mind wanders and scurries around in all directions such that even when I find myself in a peaceful setting I may not always experience peace.

It is often said that the mind holds the key to being peaceful. I therefore endeavour to quieten my thoughts, but I quickly discover this is not enough. I will have simply achieved the state of ‘not thinking’ – which may allow me to experience fleeting moments of peace. However, to experience the absolute state of peace I need to make my thoughts and therefore my thinking peaceful.

I become watchful and attentive to my every thought. I ask myself ‘how peaceful are my thoughts?’ I check and change, check and change.

As I begin to experience the state of peace, my mind cooperates and becomes patient and trusting. So begins a wonderful relationship where I find my mind is generating fewer but more powerful thoughts. My mind no longer wanders and scurries around thinking, re-thinking and over thinking. Peace becomes my natural nature once again.

Step into Freedom

2015-04-20_0804

Do you ever feel like you want to be free. Free from the baggage of the past and the uncertainty and expectations of the future?

Freedom holds within it an experience of lightness, being carefree and happy.
If this is truly what we want then what is it that binds us so tightly to all that we ‘by definition’ don’t want?

Somewhere, somehow there is a sense of ‘need’. We need these things, we need those people , we need to do certain things and know other things. We place this very heavy chain of ‘need’ around our necks. Needs based on perception and speculation and not based on any proof or guarantee.

Even though the soul will yearn to be free, once trapped in the chain of needs it is very difficult to see beyond that.
We have to step back and see things in a detached and objective way in order to see the reality.

Take a step of courage and let go of one ‘need’ that is tieing you down. Let go and experience a step into freedom.

Step into Silence

silence

One would think that, compared to the big attractive physical world we live in, the inner world of silence would be dull, empty and insignificant.

However when I allow myself to let go, of everything that pulls me out into this physical ‘reality’, and step into my own inner space, then I will see and experience the value of silence.

It is the space in which I come face to face with the reality of myself. The self that cannot be seen but only be experienced. The realisation of my real identity – my eternity, my power and my beauty.

It is a space that is without the ‘noise’ – the sound, colour, movement – of the physical world which diverts me and attracts me outwards again and again. It is only in this space of inner silence that the self can be realised.

My inner silence is deep, subtle and full of riches. There is a very tangible experience of total contentment and of having reached.

Step into silence.

Is that Knowledge or Wisdom?

Kow_wisdom

We live in an information society. Whatever information is needed can be obtained with the press of a button.

With all this information we are able to gain so much knowledge on almost any subject. Information or knowledge is seen as a sign of power. One who knows is a master and can thus lead and control – direct and even mis-direct.

But when does knowledge become wisdom?

When we contemplate knowledge, then apply and integrate it in our lives: our awareness, attitude and actions. When it is used in relation to the wider truths of life, it is then that it becomes wisdom. Knowledge on its own may be useful and give temporary gain, but it is only wisdom that transforms knowledge into power – spiritual power

Wisdom is the power of experience that gives internal stability. It is the deepest ‘knowing’, based on experience, which then allows one to be internally free.

Am I wise?
