My Self Created Personality

2015-04-20_0810_003

The person I am today is not the same as the one I was last year or even yesterday. As I go through life I am continuously learning and my personality and character develops over time.

I express myself every day, from moment to moment, often charged with anger, upset or even sadness and then at other times with happiness and enthusiasm . These emotional reactions are a result of a personality that has developed over time. But it is not my true or original personality.

When I allow myself to consciously step away from the safety of the character I have come to believe I am, I step away from the illusion – I let go of all the acquired cleverness, skills, knowledge, experiences and allow my true personality to emerge.

Who am I? I am who I was always and always will be – constant, consistent and forever. I am the spiritual being, the soul, full of all goodness and power. Complete and perfect without the need to prove my self-worth.

Do I have the courage to stop and step away from my self-created personality and respond from my non polluted and original self?

Solitude

InheritenceI am drawn in to solitude. Somehow, within solitude I find comfort and a freedom for the self.
When I sit in solitude, alone……. I create a world made up of me and everything that I am. It is where I feel comfortable. Not that it is always a place of great happiness and joy, but even a lonely one of hopelessness and self-pity. It is a world I create and one which is limited by my own imagination and perception. A place I want to be and am ‘comfortable’ being in.
Is there another type of solitude that I can experience?
Solitude in the subtle company of God – this is a totally different space and experience. It is an environment in which there is power, attainment and happiness. All the ingredients that allow me to open up and explore the depths of spirituality and the richness of spirit.
I step back into this solitude – this is where I want to be.

The Voice of Intuition

self_realisation

The voice of intuition comes from the deepest and wisest self – from within my pure conscience.

To hear my intuition I need to become silent.
Silence of words and noises is not enough to hear the voice from within my conscious. Total inner silence is needed. The silence of thoughts and feelings that are unseen but cause so much ‘noise’ within.

When the mind becomes quiet and the heart detached then the intellect also becomes silent as it has no reason to discern. Then within this space my inner ear has the capacity to hear the voice of intuition.

The silent voice of intuition whispers truth from the all knowing self.
To hear the voice or ignore it is then a matter of choice.

Still Point

One

Let me take a moment and become still.

I take a long, deep, slow breath and then another and one more until I feel relaxed. I become aware of my own body which has now become heavy and still.

I move my focus within, into my inner world, and as I do that I become aware that everything within has also slowed down. My thoughts, feelings and even my inner responsiveness.

As I watch and experience this state of being I realise that I have become a detached observer of my physical self.
I the soul sit awake and conscious of the body in which I am sitting. The body is separate and I am separate.

I move my focus again to my innermost self and emerge a thought in my awareness – ‘who am I?’
And from deep within the self an experience emerges … ‘I am…’
It is as if the deepest most ancient and wise part of the self responds to this call.
‘I am ….’. ‘I am the embodiment of all goodness and strength’. ‘ I am the eternal soul’.
In this moment, absorbed within this experience, I realise my own unlimited truth.

My truth, which is beyond the day to day trivia that I play. My truth, which is so pure and powerful and unlimited.
And life is a small scene within my truth which is eternal.

My whole perspective of reality changes in this moment of truth.

My Authentic Self

consciousness

Let me take a moment to stop. Stop physical activity, stop the thoughts in my mind and the feelings in my heart.

Having stopped let me now take a step inwards into that space that is at the very core of my being. That sacred space where I am alone with my conscience …my authentic self.

What is the authentic self – Is it my name, my role, my position or possessions? When I become focused in this space, detached from activity, thoughts and feelings, I realise that I am none of these.

My authentic and real self is the in-visible spirit within this body. Authentic is that which is original and always. That which is today and will be tomorrow. Let me take a moment to see, understand and experience the authentic self.

Everything in life changes, even my own personality and so what is authentic within the self?

Deep, Deeper, Deeper Still

consciousness

Taking time out for ourselves just to sit quietly has become a luxury many of us cannot afford these days. There is just no time, we argue. A never ending ‘to do’ list.

It might be surprising however to find that it is when I give time to connect with my innermost self, that I will be able to ‘generate’ more time.

By diving deep into my inner world, I move away from the surface of my mind where I am subject to the turbulent effects of external influences. In the depths of the self I am the captain of my mind. In the still waters within I am reconciled with my own peace and stillness. My thoughts slow down. There is a sense of calm and clarity.

As I re-surface from the depths within, I sense a change in the nature of my thoughts ….fewer in quantity but greater in quality. With few but powerful thoughts my capacity for handling tasks and responsibilities has grown manifold.

Invest in ‘quiet time’ regularly and reap the reward……fewer thoughts, powerful thoughts.

Am I Extroverted?

extrovert

Extroversion has many forms and we have developed a habit of extroversion as a means of dealing with life.

When we are extroverted we try to prove or project an image of our self which we are not really inside. Living too long with this habit or interaction divorces us from our self over time.

Projecting an image of ‘being good’ is a trap that we fall into so that others will like us , love us or respect us. The long term consequence of this is that we lose our connection with our self and our authenticity. We lose the ability to be comfortable in our own skin.

By being extroverted we hide the truth from the world but, worse we also distract ourselves from having to face the truth.

There is a place inside us that goes beyond this limited ‘I’ and ‘me’. Developing the practice of introspection will allow us to connect with our authentic self – the one that needs no external supports or approvals and no facade to sustain.

Take a moment out and sit quietly. Let go of all that you know about yourself and in silence take a journey to the core of your spiritual self. Sit in the awareness and the company of your own silent and gentle, authentic self.

Develop the habit of introversion!
